Zakat
“And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah.” (2:110, Qur’an)
What is Zakat?
One of the five pillars of Islam, Zakat (or almsgiving) is an obligatory payment made by Muslims to those eligible to receive it as a way to spread wealth and potentially ease the suffering on millions
Who Pays Zakat?
Only Muslims are required to pay zakat

A person must own wealth or assets that meet the minimum amount, known as the nisab (threshold). This amount is based on gold, silver, or current monetary value

A person’s wealth must reach or exceed the nisab

The person must have owned the wealth for a full lunar year (hijri year). Zakat is usually due annually, and it’s calculated on savings or wealth that has remained intact for a year

A person must be financially capable of paying Zakat, meaning their wealth should not be used to meet basic living expenses
How we distribute your Zakat?
People's Foundation utilises Zakat to help some of the world’s poorest and most destitute communities

Your Zakat will be distributed through cash donations, as well as being used for Emergency Aid, Food Aid, Medical Aid, Water Aid and many more Zakat eligible projects
